> Tipe pertama diabetes insipidus, jenis ini terjadi karena kadar  insulin tubuh yang kurang, baik karena serangan virus, penyakit autoimun, ataupun bersifat herediter (menurun/genetis).
> Tipe kedua, diabetes melitus, terjadi karena kerja insulin tidak sempurna, kerja insulin yang tidak sempurna menyebabkan gula pada darah tidak berhasil terangkut ke dalam sel tubuh, sehingga kadarnya pada darah menjadi tinggi.
